390 No-Prep Lessons and Activities from the STRONG Learning® Tiger Tuesday® Reading Program (TTRP).
This is an ideal resource for teaching reading while promoting social and emotional learning (SEL). Employing the multisensory Orton-Gillingham approach, every activity supports development of one or more of the five pillars of reading—phonemic awareness, phonics, vocabulary, comprehension, and fluency while simultaneously providing opportunities for children to develop self-awareness and other SEL core competencies.
TTRP was originally created with the goal of providing students with purposeful, playful practice of the decoding and encoding skills they need to read—purposeful, because activities all focus on a given phonetic pattern, and playful, because there’s something fun for every student. And we know that learning to read, as with any skill, takes practice. Research—and common sense—tell us that we all learn more easily when we’re engaged. And when are we most engaged? When we’re having fun—which only happens when we feel physically and emotionally safe and confident in our social interactions.
